Vacuum Pumps for HVAC & Refrigeration (Australia)
Need faster pull-downs and a reliable deep vacuum? This collection covers HVAC/R vacuum pumps (aka evac pumps or refrigerant vacuum pumps) chosen for real on-site work across Australia — from coastal humidity to colder winter commissioning.
Shortcut: A good evacuation setup is rarely “just the pump”. For best results (and fewer call-backs), pair your pump with a micron gauge, clean vacuum pump oil, and a short, wide-bore evacuation hose.
Not sure what size pump you need?
Use our HVAC tool quote request and tell us what you’re working on (split system / VRF / refrigeration, typical line lengths, and how quickly you want to hit target microns).
Shop by job
- Residential & light commercial installs: 2-stage vacuum pump + micron gauge + clean oil
- Long line sets / plant rooms / VRF: higher flow pump + wide-bore evacuation hose + core tools (to remove restrictions)
- Service & repairs: quick evacuation workflows + reliable verification (microns) before charging
- Automotive A/C: choose tools suited to your workshop workflow and refrigerant/application requirements
How to choose the right vacuum pump
- Flow rate (L/min): higher flow generally means quicker vapour removal (especially helpful on larger systems and longer hoses).
- 2-stage vs single stage: dual/2-stage pumps are commonly chosen when you’re chasing deeper, more stable vacuums.
- Serviceability: look for easy oil changes (drain/fill access), sight glass, and protection for hard days.
- Vacuum verification: treat a micron gauge as essential, not optional — “deep vacuum” is a number.
Recommended add-ons
- Vacuum pump oil (fresh oil = faster pull-down and better performance)
- Vacuum (micron) gauges to prove evacuation before charging
- Evacuation hoses & fittings (wider-bore hoses reduce restrictions and speed up evacuation)
- Manifolds & refrigerant gauges for charging/diagnostics
- Recovery & evacuation gear if you’re building a complete setup
- Core tools & TruBlu evacuation gear (helpful for reducing restrictions at service ports)
Want a ready-made option? Many installers start with an evacuation kit like AccuTools TruBlu Starter Evacuation Kit then build out from there.
R32 & A2L refrigerants: compatibility and safe workflows
Some jobs now involve A2L refrigerants (e.g. R32). Always check the product listing and manufacturer instructions for suitability, and follow site WHS procedures and applicable rules for your work.
FAQs – HVAC vacuum pumps
Do I really need a micron gauge?
If you want consistent commissioning results, yes. A vacuum pump creates evacuation, but a micron gauge lets you measure depth/stability so you can charge with confidence. See: Vacuum (micron) gauges.
Why does wide-bore hose matter for evacuation?
Restrictions slow evacuation. Wider-bore evacuation hoses (often 3/8" and up) improve conductance and can reduce time to reach target microns. Browse: Hoses & couplings.
How often should I change vacuum pump oil?
It depends on workload and contamination, but clean oil is key for deep vacuum performance. If oil looks cloudy/milky or pull-down slows, change it. Shop: Vacuum pump oil.
What’s the difference between recovery and evacuation?
Recovery removes refrigerant into a cylinder; evacuation removes air/moisture/non-condensables before charging. If you need both, start here: Recovery & evacuation tools.
Can you help me pick the right pump for my jobs?
Yes — tell us your typical systems and job sizes and we’ll help match a practical setup. Use the quote request form or contact us via Contact Us.
