These Testo standard measuring cables with an angled plug (0590 0010) are your go-to for accurate electrical measurements, offering a secure, comfortable grip even on a hot, sweaty job site. Designed for HVAC techs working with electrical parameters, they provide reliable connections to multimeters and clamp meters.

Every tradie knows a good set of leads makes all the difference when you're troubleshooting a circuit – no flaky connections, just solid readings.

Best For

  • HVAC electricians and refrigeration mechanics
  • Apprentices learning electrical diagnostics
  • Service and maintenance teams for electrical fault finding
  • General electrical measurement tasks

Compatibility

These measuring cables are designed to connect with Testo clamp meters, Testo digital multimeters, and other general makes of multimeter. They feature a standard tip diameter of 2 mm (0.079 inches), making them suitable for most common test points.

If you're running a different model, check fittings and specs before ordering.

Features

  • Secure Grip: Rubber-coated handles ensure a firm, non-slip hold, even in challenging conditions.
  • Angled Plug Design: Provides better cable routing and reduces strain on connections when plugged into your meter.
  • CAT II 1000 V Rating: Suitable for measurements in circuits connected to the mains supply, up to 1000V.
  • Standard Tip Size: 2 mm (0.079 inch) tip diameter with an 18 mm (0.7 inch) length, ideal for most common terminals and sockets.
  • Universal Fit: Compatible with a wide range of multimeters and clamp meters beyond just Testo brand tools.
  • Robust Construction: Built to withstand the daily rigours of trade use.

What's in the Box

  • 1 set of Testo standard measuring cables (black and red) with angled plugs. Each cable is 1.225 metres long and features a 2 mm diameter, 18 mm long tip.

Using It on the Job

  1. Inspect Leads: Before every use, visually check the insulation for any cuts, cracks, or damage. Damaged leads are a shock hazard and should be replaced immediately.
  2. Connect to Meter: Firmly insert the angled plugs into your multimeter or clamp meter's appropriate input jacks (e.g., VΩmA and COM).
  3. Select Measurement Function: Set your meter to the correct range and function for the parameter you're testing (e.g., VAC, VDC, Ohms).
  4. Isolate Power (if required): For safety, always isolate power and perform lockout/tagout procedures before working on live electrical components, unless specific live-testing procedures are required and followed with appropriate PPE.
  5. Test Circuit: Touch the probe tips to the test points. The rubberised grips help maintain a steady connection.
  6. Clean and Store: After use, wipe down the cables with a clean, dry cloth to remove dirt or grime, and store them neatly to prevent kinks or damage.

Limitations & Safety Notes

  • These cables are rated CAT II 1000 V. Ensure your application does not exceed this overvoltage category or voltage limit.
  • Always connect the common (black) lead first and disconnect it last when working on live circuits.
  • Do not use if the cables, plugs, or tips show any signs of wear, fraying, or exposed wiring.
  • Follow all relevant Australian electrical safety standards and Safe Work Australia guidance when performing electrical measurements.
  • Not suitable for CAT III or CAT IV environments unless used with accessories rated for those categories.

"Keeping your test leads organised and untangled is more than just neatness – it prevents internal wire breaks and extends their life. Always coil them properly after each use, don't just shove them in the bottom of the toolbox."

Pair with a Testo digital multimeter or clamp meter for a complete electrical diagnostic kit. Consider adding Testo crocodile clips for hands-free measurement on certain terminals.
