The CAL 231 is the modern, upgraded version of the CC231. The key difference is the R32 and 1234yf safety rating. While the older series was built for traditional HFCs, the CAL 231 features ignition-proof components and seals that make it safe for the mildly flammable A2L refrigerants used in current and future systems.
There is no such thing as "too much vacuum," but 230 L/min is definitely more power than a small bedroom split needs. However, if you do a mix of residential and light commercial work, the CAL 231 is a great "one-pump-does-all" solution. It will pull down a standard split system incredibly fast.
We provide a free bottle of Javac Shark Pump Oil with the unit. For future refills, we recommend staying with high-quality mineral-based vacuum pump oils like Shark or Element #15 to ensure you maintain that 15-micron ultimate vacuum rating.
