Using It on the Job

  1. Isolate Power & Gas: Always start by switching off electrical power at the breaker and closing the gas supply valve to the heater. Follow all lockout/tagout procedures.
  2. Access Components: Carefully open the heater's combustion chamber access panel to expose the existing flame sensor and spark ignitor.
  3. Disconnect & Remove: Disconnect all wiring and gas connections (if applicable) from the old components. Unmount the old sparker and sensor from their brackets.
  4. Install New Kit: Mount the new Electrode Flame Sense Short and Electrode Dual Probe Short using the provided brackets and screws. Ensure correct alignment and secure fastening.
  5. Reconnect Wiring: Reattach all electrical leads securely to the new components. Double-check all connections are tight and correctly seated.
  6. Restore & Test: Close up the heater, restore gas and electrical power. Initiate a test cycle to confirm proper ignition and flame proving. Check for any gas leaks if disturbing gas connections.

Limitations & Safety Notes

  • Installation and servicing of gas appliances must only be performed by a currently licensed gasfitter in accordance with AS/NZS 5601.1.
  • Always isolate power and gas supply before commencing any work on the appliance.
  • Only for use on specified Braemar TQ3/4 and TH3/4 non-condensing units. Verify your model number before purchase.
  • Follow all manufacturer instructions and Safe Work Australia guidelines during installation and testing.

Tradie Pro Tip: When installing new flame sensors, give the ceramic insulator a quick wipe down with a clean, lint-free cloth. Even tiny residues can affect conductivity and lead to intermittent flame proving issues down the track.
