Refrigerant Recovery & Evacuation Tools – Complete Your Service Workflow
Before you can evacuate a system, you need to recover the refrigerant. Before you can charge, you need to prove the vacuum. This collection brings together the tools that cover both sides of that workflow — recovery machines, vacuum pumps, micron gauges, vacuum pump oil, and evacuation hoses — so you can build a complete, compliant service setup without hunting across multiple pages.
The Recovery & Evacuation Workflow
- Recover — use a recovery machine to remove refrigerant from the system before any service work. Required by law for fluorocarbon refrigerants in Australia.
- Evacuate — connect a vacuum pump and pull the system down to remove moisture and non-condensables.
- Verify — use a digital micron gauge to confirm you've hit the required vacuum level (typically <500 microns) and that it holds on a decay test.
- Charge — recharge with the correct refrigerant by weight using a refrigerant scale.
What's in This Collection
- Refrigerant recovery machines — portable and workshop units for residential, commercial, and automotive A/C work
- Vacuum pumps — 2-stage rotary vane pumps from Javac, Fieldpiece, Robinair, and Wipcool
- Digital micron gauges — Pirani and electronic vacuum gauges for accurate evacuation verification
- Vacuum pump oil — Javac and Fieldpiece oils matched to your pump model
- Evacuation hoses and fittings — large-bore hoses and core removal tools to speed up pull-down
Tips for Faster, Better Evacuations
- Remove valve cores — Schrader cores restrict flow by up to 90%. Use a core removal tool and leave them out during evacuation.
- Use large-bore hoses — 1/4" hoses are for charging, not evacuating. Use 3/8" or larger dedicated evacuation hoses.
- Change your oil — cloudy or milky oil is saturated with moisture and can't pull a deep vacuum. Change it regularly.
- Measure at the system — connect your micron gauge to the system side, not the pump, for an accurate reading.
