Description

This Testo Type 5 Glass pH Electrode with integrated temperature sensor is built for reliable, precise water quality measurements. It’s ideal for HVAC technicians and water treatment specialists who need to accurately monitor pH and temperature in various industrial applications.

Having a robust, dirt-insensitive pH probe on hand is crucial when you're testing water loops that might contain suspended solids or other contaminants, helping you quickly identify issues before they cause system damage.

Best For

  • HVAC water treatment and facility maintenance
  • Industrial process control and monitoring
  • Water quality analysis in cooling towers, boilers, and closed loops
  • Any application requiring accurate pH and temperature readings

Compatibility

This Testo pH electrode is designed to work seamlessly with compatible Testo instruments, such as the Testo 230 (as mentioned in manufacturer specs). Always ensure your existing Testo meter supports this probe type for proper function.

If you're running a different model, check fittings and specs before ordering.

Features

  • Robust Construction: Engineered with a single-pore diaphragm, making it resilient against dirt and suspended solids common in industrial water.
  • Glass Electrode Design: Offers excellent chemical resistance, ensuring longevity and accuracy across a range of applications.
  • Maintenance-Free Gel-Electrolyte: Simplifies operation and reduces the need for constant refilling, saving you time on site.
  • Integrated Temperature Sensor: Provides simultaneous temperature readings for complete water analysis and accurate pH compensation.

What's in the Box

  • Testo 0650 1623 Type 5 Glass pH Electrode with Temperature Sensor
  • Storage Cap

Using It on the Job

  1. Prepare the Electrode: Remove the storage cap carefully. If dry, condition the electrode by soaking it in a suitable storage solution or buffer.
  2. Connect to Meter: Firmly attach the electrode to your compatible Testo pH meter. Ensure the connection is clean and dry.
  3. Calibrate: Perform a two-point (or three-point for higher accuracy) calibration using known pH buffer solutions (e.g., pH 4, 7, and 10). Always calibrate regularly, especially for critical measurements.
  4. Take Measurements: Submerge the electrode into the water sample, ensuring both the pH sensor and temperature sensor are fully immersed. Allow readings to stabilise before recording.
  5. Clean & Store: After use, rinse the electrode with distilled or deionised water. Replace the storage cap, ideally with some storage solution inside, to keep the glass bulb hydrated.

Limitations & Safety Notes

  • This electrode contains a glass bulb, which is fragile and can break if dropped or mishandled.
  • Always use appropriate PPE (e.g., gloves, eye protection) when handling chemicals or water samples that may be hazardous.
  • Ensure the electrode is only used within its specified temperature and pH range to prevent damage and ensure accurate readings.
  • Regular calibration with fresh buffer solutions is essential for maintaining measurement accuracy.

Tradie Pro Tip

Always keep your pH electrode's storage cap properly filled with a dedicated storage solution, not just water. It prevents the reference junction from drying out and extends the life and accuracy of your probe. A dry electrode gives you nothing but headaches and dodgy readings.

Pair With

Pair this pH electrode with a compatible Testo pH meter, pH buffer solutions for calibration, and an electrode storage solution to keep it in top condition.
