Description

This Seeley-type inlet valve is a 3/4" BSP 24V solenoid, designed to manage water flow in evaporative cooling systems. It’s a solid pick for HVAC techs working on common Australian cooler brands.

Anyone who's battled with a leaky or stuck valve on a hot summer's day knows the value of a reliable replacement. This unit gets the job done without fuss.

Best For

  • HVAC service techs and apprentices
  • Maintenance teams for commercial and residential evaporative coolers
  • Competent DIY owners replacing existing Seeley-type valves

Compatibility

This 24V AC unregulated solenoid is a direct replacement for many Seeley, Braemar, and Coolair evaporative cooler inlet valves. It specifically cross-references with Seeley/Braemar part numbers 834320, 834313, and B015727.

If you're running a different model, check fittings and specs before ordering.

Features

  • 3/4" BSP threaded connections for straightforward installation.
  • 24V AC unregulated solenoid coil, compatible with common cooler control systems.
  • Standard 6.3mm spade terminals for easy wiring integration.
  • Inline compact design, ideal for tight installation spaces within cooler units.
  • Durable construction, built to handle high-moisture evaporative cooler environments.

What's in the Box

  • 1x Seeley-Type Cooler Inlet Valve – 3/4" BSP 24V Solenoid (SY832760)

Using It on the Job

  1. Always isolate power to the evaporative cooler at the mains before starting any work. Use proper lockout/tagout procedures.
  2. Shut off the water supply to the cooler. Drain any remaining water from the system.
  3. Disconnect existing wiring from the old valve's spade terminals. Note polarity if present, though AC solenoids are generally non-polarised.
  4. Unscrew and remove the old valve. Clean threads if needed, and apply fresh thread sealant (like PTFE tape) to the 3/4" BSP connections of the new valve.
  5. Install the new SY832760 valve, ensuring the flow direction matches the system. Torque connections appropriately to prevent leaks.
  6. Reconnect the 24V AC wiring to the 6.3mm spade terminals. Restore water supply and power, then test for proper operation and leaks.

Limitations & Safety Notes

  • This valve is for 24V AC unregulated systems only. Do not connect to higher voltages.
  • Ensure water supply is off and power is isolated before installation or maintenance.
  • Use only with water in evaporative cooling systems. Not for use with refrigerants or other chemicals.
  • Follow all local plumbing and electrical codes and Safe Work Australia guidelines.
When replacing these, always check the condition of the float valve and water level sensor too. A faulty float can lead to constant filling, which the solenoid can't fix.

Pair With

This inlet valve pairs well with other Evaporative Cooler Parts, such as dump valves or new cooler pads, available right here at HVAC Shop. Consider a multi-meter for checking supply voltage during troubleshooting.

Common Questions for Seeley-Type Cooler Inlet Valve – 3/4" BSP 24V Solenoid

This Seeley-type inlet valve is designed to operate on 24V AC in an unregulated configuration, which is common for many evaporative cooling systems.

The valve features 3/4" BSP threaded connections, making it a standard fit for many evaporative cooler water lines.

It's a direct replacement for inlet valves in a wide range of Seeley, Braemar, and Coolair evaporative coolers, and cross-references with several Seeley/Braemar part numbers like 834320.
