Description
Javac JILD-200 Infrared Refrigerant Leak Detector
Stop wasting money replacing burnt-out sensors and chasing false positives. The Javac JILD-200 represents the pinnacle of leak detection technology. By utilizing an advanced infrared (spectrum absorption) sensor, this hand-held powerhouse boasts a massive 10-year sensor life and pinpoints leaks as small as 4 grams per year. Designed for the modern technician, it reliably detects everything from legacy CFCs to the latest mildly flammable HFOs (like R32 and 1234yf) without breaking a sweat.
Key Features & Trade Benefits
- 10-Year Infrared Sensor: Unlike traditional heated diode sniffers that degrade over time, the JILD-200's infrared sensor maintains absolute accuracy for up to a decade and won't poison itself if exposed to a massive dose of refrigerant.
- Pinpoint Accuracy (<4g/yr): Features Low, Medium, and High sensitivity levels with a leakage peak recording function so you never miss a micro-leak.
- Built for Noisy Sites: Includes a dedicated earphone jack so you can clearly hear the variable ticking alarm over the deafening roar of industrial chillers and exhaust fans.
- Visual Diagnostics: A crisp TFT LCD screen displays accurate readouts, while the included UV-LED attachment lets you instantly cross-verify leaks on systems running UV dye.
- All-Day Power: Powered by a built-in high-capacity 3000mAh rechargeable lithium battery with a 10-minute auto-shutoff to preserve life in the van.
Tradie Pro Tip for Infrared Detectors:Traditional heated diode sensors trigger false alarms when they suck in compressor oil, soap bubbles, or even heavy moisture. Infrared sensors only react to the specific molecular signature of refrigerant gases. If the JILD-200 goes off, you have a guaranteed leak, not a smudge of dirty vacuum pump oil!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Why is an Infrared sensor better than a Heated Diode?
Heated diode sensors "burn" the gas to detect it, meaning the sensor physically degrades over time and requires frequent, expensive replacements. If you expose a heated diode to a massive blowout leak, it can poison and ruin the sensor instantly. Infrared sensors use light absorption, meaning they never degrade, last over 10 years, and cannot be poisoned by large concentrations of gas.
Will it detect the new A2L and automotive refrigerants?
Yes. The JILD-200 is fully capable of detecting mildly flammable HFO and A2L refrigerants like R32 (common in new split systems) and R1234yf (the new standard for automotive air conditioning), making it entirely future-proof.
What are the filters for?
The small filters sit inside the tip of the flexible 34cm probe. They stop dust, dirt, and liquid moisture from being sucked up into the optical sensor chamber. Always ensure your filter is clean and dry before starting a leak search!
