Are the hoses suitable for high-pressure systems?
Yes. The included premium Goodyear GY5 36-inch hoses are extremely heavy-duty. They meet UL1963 & SAE J196 standards and are rated for an 800 psi (55 bar) working pressure and a massive 4000 psi (276 bar) burst pressure, giving you a huge margin of safety while working.
Why do the gauges have internal silicon dampeners?
Compressors create internal pressure pulsations that can cause standard gauge needles to vibrate wildly, making it impossible to get an accurate reading. The internal silicon dampeners in these Class 1.0 accuracy gauges absorb those pulsations, giving you a smooth, "flutter-free" pointer for highly precise diagnostics.
Is this ready to hook up to a car out of the box?
The set includes everything you need for the manifold side (manifold, gauges, and 1/4" SAE hoses). However, because automotive R134a ports require specific quick-connect fittings, you will need to purchase standard High & Low Side Automotive Couplers (like the Javac 3F1053) to snap onto the vehicle's service ports.
