Keeping a spare of these on hand, or knowing where to get one fast, means less downtime for your customers when their heater inevitably plays up.

Using It on the Job
- Isolate Services: Always ensure power is isolated at the main switchboard and the gas supply is turned off at the meter before commencing any work. Tag out if necessary.
- Ventilation: Work in a well-ventilated area. Residual gas can linger in lines.
- Disconnect & Remove: Carefully disconnect wiring and gas connections from the old valve. Remove mounting screws and take out the faulty valve.
- Install New Valve: Mount the new Honeywell valve securely. Apply appropriate thread sealant (e.g., PTFE tape or approved pipe dope) to gas connections before tightening.
- Reconnect: Reconnect the 3-pin electrical connector and gas lines. Ensure all connections are snug but don't overtighten.
- Leak Test: Slowly restore gas supply and conduct a thorough leak test using an approved gas leak detector or leak detection solution on all new and disturbed connections.
- Functional Test: Restore electrical power and run the heater through a full cycle to confirm correct operation of the new gas valve and ignitor.
Limitations & Safety Notes
- This valve is for Natural Gas systems only. Do not attempt to use on LPG systems without proper conversion.
- Work involving gas appliances and components must be performed by a licensed gas fitter in accordance with AS/NZS 5601 and local regulations.
- Ensure the correct voltage (24V) is supplied to prevent damage to the valve.
- Always confirm part numbers and specifications before installation to ensure compatibility with the specific Brivis unit.
Tradie Pro Tip
Before you even touch the valve, make sure you've thoroughly cleaned the area and checked for any potential gas leaks in the surrounding pipework. A solid leak test after the install is non-negotiable – your reputation and safety depend on it.
Pair With
For a complete and safe job, pair this gas valve with a reliable gas leak detector and quality PTFE thread sealant. Consider also having a digital manometer on hand for checking gas pressures if required during commissioning.
