In an Australian summer, a failing float switch can quickly lead to a system overflowing or running dry, which means hot customers and a bigger job. Having the right part on hand makes the repair straightforward.

Using It on the Job
- Isolate Power: Always begin by switching off and locking out the main power supply to the evaporative cooler. Safety first, always.
- Drain Unit: If the unit is full, drain the water completely following manufacturer guidelines.
- Access Float Switch: Locate the old float switch, typically in the water reservoir or pan. Disconnect its plug from the PCB.
- Remove & Replace: Carefully remove the old switch. Install the new Coolbreeze CBSP2212 float switch in the same position, ensuring it's oriented correctly for proper water level detection.
- Connect Plug: Plug the new switch's soldered plug securely into the main PCB board. Double-check the connection.
- Test Operation: Restore power and carefully observe the unit filling. Verify the float switch correctly cuts off the water supply once the desired level is reached and allows the pump to operate.
Limitations & Safety Notes
- Always isolate power before attempting any electrical work on an evaporative cooler.
- Ensure the float switch is correctly installed and positioned to avoid water overflow or dry running.
- This switch is specifically for the Coolbreeze models listed; it may not be compatible with other brands or models.
- Refer to your Coolbreeze unit's service manual for specific installation procedures and safety warnings.
Don't just swap the switch and walk away. While you've got the pan open, give it a good clean and check for any blockages in the drain or supply lines that might have contributed to the original float switch issue. A bit of preventative maintenance goes a long way.
