Description
This Braemar Extra Long Combustion Fan (SY642963) is a direct replacement part designed to restore proper operation to specific Braemar ducted gas heaters. It ensures your unit can effectively vent combustion by-products, maintaining safety and heating efficiency, especially important during a cold snap down south. When these fans start to go, you often hear a tell-tale bearing squeal or struggle to ignite, which means it's time for a swap.
This fan is a critical component for safe and efficient operation, ensuring flue gases are properly exhausted from the combustion chamber.

- Access Fan: Locate and carefully access the old combustion fan within the heater unit. This may involve removing casing panels.
- Disconnect & Remove: Disconnect any wiring and remove fasteners securing the old fan. Pay attention to how it mounts and connects to the flue pan.

- Reconnect Wiring: Reconnect the electrical wiring to the new fan, ensuring all connections are secure and correct.
- Test Operation: Before fully reassembling, restore power and conduct a test run to ensure the fan operates smoothly, quietly, and correctly, and that the burner ignites without issue.
Limitations & Safety Notes

Tradie Pro Tip
Before you even pull out your tools, double-check the date stamp or serial number on the unit. Braemar changed this fan design, and using the wrong one will cause major headaches during installation and potentially impact safety and performance. A quick check can save a return trip.
Pair With
Pair with replacement ignitors or flame sensors, and ensure you have a quality multimeter for testing electrical connections during the repair process. For thorough system checks, consider also looking at pressure switches and control boards.
