What's in the Box

  • Testo 755-1 Current/Voltage Meter
  • Batteries
  • Measuring tips (standard set)

Using It on the Job

  1. Before any electrical work, ensure power is isolated and locked out where necessary. Always use appropriate PPE.
  2. For voltage tests, simply apply the probes to the circuit. The 755-1 automatically detects AC/DC voltage and selects the correct range.
  3. To measure AC current, use the open-jaw clamp around one conductor. The meter will auto-select the current range.
  4. When checking 3-phase systems, follow the on-screen indicators for phase sequence and motor rotation.
  5. Utilise the continuity test for quick checks on wiring and fuses. The audible indication helps when you can't see the screen directly.
  6. After use, store the unit with the leads secured in the integrated holder. Inspect measuring tips regularly and replace if worn.

Limitations & Safety Notes

  • Always ensure the unit's CAT rating is appropriate for the system you are working on. This unit is CAT IV 600V / CAT III 1000V.
  • Do not exceed the specified voltage or current ranges to prevent damage to the meter or personal injury.
  • Never attempt to measure current on uninsulated conductors or circuits carrying active loads beyond the meter's capacity.
  • Electrical work requires proper training and adherence to AS/NZS 3000 (Wiring Rules) and Safe Work Australia guidelines.
  • Regularly inspect leads and tips for damage; replace them immediately if any wear or cracks are visible.
On a busy rooftop, a meter that automatically detects AC/DC voltage and range is a real time-saver. Don't waste minutes fiddling with dials – get straight to fault-finding and keep the job moving.
