This pressure sensor is a crucial component for any HVAC system, helping techs monitor system health and prevent costly breakdowns. Keeping an eye on those high and low side pressures is critical, especially when you're troubleshooting an R410A system on a scorching Australian summer day.
It’s built as an OEM-equivalent replacement, offering reliable performance for maintaining optimal system operation and safeguarding your equipment from pressure fluctuations.
Best For
- HVAC service and maintenance teams
- Refrigeration apprentices learning system diagnostics
- Installers needing reliable OEM-equivalent replacements
- Competent DIY owners maintaining their own residential split systems
Compatibility
This sensor is designed for broad compatibility with many common residential and light commercial HVAC systems using refrigerants like R410A, R32, R134a, R404A, and R22 (legacy systems). It typically connects via standard 1/4" SAE flare fittings or a compatible threaded port. If you're running a different model, check fittings and specs before ordering.
Features
- Durable Construction: Built to withstand typical HVAC operating conditions, from rooftop heat to plant room environments.
- Accurate Pressure Monitoring: Provides precise readings for system diagnostics and safe operation.
- Standard Electrical Connection: Features a common 3-pin or 4-pin connector for straightforward integration into existing control circuits.
- Wide Operating Range: Suitable for both high and low-pressure sides, handling common refrigerant pressures.

What's in the Box
- 1 x HVAC System Pressure Sensor (SKU: CTSPS4721258SP)
- Basic installation guide with wiring diagram
Using It on the Job
- Isolate Power: Always ensure the system is de-energised and locked out before beginning any work on electrical components.
- Recover Refrigerant: If replacing a sensor on the refrigerant circuit, recover all refrigerant to an approved recovery cylinder using an ARCtick-licenced recovery unit.
- Depressurise System: Verify the system is at atmospheric pressure before opening any refrigerant lines.
- Remove Old Sensor: Carefully unscrew or unclip the old sensor, noting its orientation and wiring.
- Install New Sensor: Apply a small amount of refrigerant oil to O-rings (if present) or suitable thread sealant. Thread in the new sensor by hand, then tighten with a wrench to manufacturer's specifications. Connect the electrical plug securely.
- Evacuate & Charge: Evacuate the relevant section of the system to at least 500 microns, then recharge with virgin refrigerant by weight. Check for leaks before re-energising.
Limitations & Safety Notes
- Refrigerant handling requires a current ARCtick licence.
- Only use this sensor with compatible refrigerants and within its specified pressure and temperature ranges.
- Always follow Australian electrical safety standards and Safe Work practices when installing or replacing.
- Ensure electrical connections are dry and secure to prevent short circuits or corrosion.
- This sensor is designed for monitoring; it is not a safety relief device.
Tradie Pro Tip
Before you install a new pressure sensor, make sure the threads on the port are clean and undamaged. A bit of fresh thread sealant or a new O-ring (if supplied) can save you a call-back for a slow leak. Double-check your wiring colours before plugging in.
Pair With
Pair with refrigerant manifold gauges, a quality vacuum pump, and a reliable leak detector for complete system service. Don't forget your recovery unit and appropriate PPE from the HVAC Shop safety gear range.
