Split System Air Conditioning Cleaning Kit
The cleaning kit is designed to allow homeowners to clean their ductless split air conditioner wall unit (FCU) without the hassle and potential danger of dismantling the unit.
The effectiveness of this system lies in the cleaning solution, which acts as a 'super detergent' that efficiently washes away all traces of biofilm without causing damage to the air conditioning unit.

This cleaning solution is especially adept at dislodging and dissolving bio-slime, the "jelly substance" that can accumulate on the cooling coils of air conditioners.
Furthermore, it's formulated to be safe for the blue epoxy coating found on cooling coils.
You'll need about 500 ml of the solution per A/C coil and fan blade, meaning this kit is suitable for cleaning up to 4 air conditioner coils.
*Though the kit comes with a long nozzle sprayer, it might be beneficial to use a pressure garden sprayer or a hydrocell pressure washer to facilitate the rinsing step with fresh water. Ensure you use enough freshwater to wash away dirt and bio-slime.
This solution is formulated not to leave any residues or coatings behind after rinsing. Applying a coating to the coils post-cleaning isn't advisable as it could alter the surface energy of the cooling coils. This change can quicken the rate at which organics (like skin flakes) and dust particles adhere to the surfaces, which subsequently serves as a nutrient source for bacteria and mold. Modern air conditioner engineers apply a hydrophilic coating to the coils in newer systems for this very reason.
By making any surface it contacts hydrophilic, this solution repels adhesives almost instantly. This repulsion allows organics (such as skin flakes), biofilm, and dirt to be easily washed away when rinsed and flushed with water.
Conventional cleaning solutions might erode the oxide layer of the aluminum to remove the biofilm, resulting in a shiny appearance post-wash. However, this method wears away the aluminum material from the cooling fins. Using this method excessively on an air conditioner can be detrimental. Any leftover solution can continue to corrode metal components.
Note: Hydrophilic coatings have low surface energy, repelling most substances attempting to adhere to it. This reduces organic build-up and allows condensate to flow smoothly over surfaces. Consequently, the condensate can drain effectively, preventing airflow blockages and maintaining air conditioner efficiency.
