Description

The Uni-T UT210D is a True RMS mini clamp meter built for sparkies and HVAC techs who work in tight boards and cramped plant rooms. It gives you fast, accurate AC/DC current readings, voltage, resistance, capacitance, frequency and temperature—without lugging a bulky meter. It’s compact, tough, and a real time-saver on the job. Too easy.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Mini clamp form factor (17 mm jaw) → Fits tight switchboards and split-system isolators for safer, quicker checks.
  • True RMS accuracy → Trust your readings on modern, non-linear loads and VSD-driven fans—fewer call-backs.
  • AC/DC current up to 200 A → Covers most residential/light-commercial service work and start-up checks.
  • CAT II 600 V / CAT III 300 V → Tested safety categories appropriate for typical HVAC panels and sub-boards.
  • NCV (non-contact voltage) → Quick live-circuit detection before you put probes in.
  • Temperature input (K-type) → Verify motor temps and bearings with the included probe—handy on fault calls.
  • Auto-range, Max/Min, Data Hold → Faster diagnostics and hassle-free logging during testing.
  • Backlit display → Readable in dark ceiling spaces and outdoor units after dusk.

Why This Product Matters

Real talk: when you’re shoulder-deep in a tight meter board on a Sydney terrace or balancing on a Brisbane rooftop unit in summer, you need a small clamp that reads right, first go. The UT210D’s True RMS accuracy and 17 mm jaw make it a ripper for tight spaces and fast fault-finding. Last week a tech on our crew used it to confirm a fan motor’s DC draw on a split—pinpointed a failing capacitor in minutes and avoided a call-back. Fair dinkum, small tools can punch above their weight.

Pro Tip

Zero out DC before measuring very low currents to improve stability. And for faster temperature spot checks on pipes, pair your UT210D with a simple K-type bead probe like the ATB1 K-Type bead thermocouple

Compatibility & System Info

  • Use on HVAC/R electrical circuits for air-cons and refrigeration (R32, R410A, R134a systems etc.) to verify electrical loads and component current. (Refrigerant diagnostics still need gauges.)
  • Works with K-type thermocouples for temperature measurement (probe included in box). :contentReference[oaicite:6]{index=6}
  • Built for typical Aussie jobsites—tight meter boards, roof spaces, and outdoor condensers. She’ll be right.

FAQs

Does the UT210D measure inrush current?

The UT210D doesn’t have a dedicated inrush mode. If you need inrush and extra pro features, consider stepping up to the Uni-T UT219E.

Can I use it on split systems and small commercial HVAC panels?

Yes—the compact 17 mm jaw and CAT III 300 V rating make it ideal for split systems and typical sub-boards. For a buyer’s primer on clamp meters, see our Clamp Meter Basics blog.

What’s the difference between UT210D and UT210E?

Both are mini True RMS clamps; the UT210E adds a VFC (low-pass filter) mode for noisy/VFD circuits. The UT210D covers most HVAC electrical checks in a smaller price/size footprint.

Is there any safety guidance for testing on live circuits?

Follow standard WHS practices and HVAC trade guidance. AIRAH highlights the importance of proper instrumentation when fault-finding; always verify safe isolation before probing.
